Understanding your score
What the 0-100 score means and how it's calculated.
Your AI Visibility Score is a number from 0 to 100 that represents how visible your business is across major AI platforms. It's calculated by running 52 industry-specific queries across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, You.com, and Bing Copilot, then analyzing whether and how your brand appears in each response.
Score ranges
70-100 (Good) — AI tools regularly mention and cite your business. You're being recommended to potential customers. Focus on maintaining this position and monitoring competitors.
35-69 (Moderate) — You appear in some AI answers but are missing from many. There are specific fixes that can improve your score significantly. Most businesses fall in this range.
0-34 (Low) — AI tools rarely or never recommend your business. This usually means there are fundamental issues like blocked AI crawlers, missing schema markup, or lack of web presence. The good news: scores in this range often improve dramatically with basic fixes.
How the score is calculated
The score is a weighted average of several factors: appearance rate (did your brand appear at all?), mention quality (named as a recommendation vs briefly mentioned), citation rate (was your URL cited as a source?), position in the response (mentioned first vs last), and consistency across platforms.
The average score
Across all VisibAI audits, the average score is approximately 34/100. This means most businesses have significant room for improvement — and that improving your score gives you a competitive advantage over the majority of businesses in your industry.
Improving your score
The fastest way to improve is to address the critical issues in your fix list. Unblocking AI crawlers, adding schema markup, and creating FAQ content can typically improve a score by 15-25 points within weeks. See our guides on robots.txt configuration, schema markup, and FAQ strategy for specifics.
